SRI THYAGARAJA PANCHARATNAM

Sri Thyagaraja PANCHARATNAM, a composition in five slokas was composed by KRSHNA MURTHY YAYAVARAM on the occasion of the 149th Aradhana of Saint Thyagaraja and placed at his lotus feet at the Samadhi in Tiruvaiyar on the bank of the Cauvery on  January 9, 1996. These five slokas bring out the exceptional qualities of the first of the Music Trinity, Thyagaraja, his total detachment to mundane affairs, a never ending yearning for Moksha, deep love and bhakthi for his ishta daivam Sri Rama and his literary excellence in the Various Kritis he composed and the innumerable ragas! Thyagaraja was an Andhra but settled in Tanjore District of Tamilnau! It is not an exaggeration if I say that his kritis  were the basis of many musicians' livelihoods!
