Samsare Kim saram Kamsareccharana Kamala pari bhajanam
Jyothih kimandhakare yadandhkare ranusmaranam
Leela Shuka thinks about the previous incarnations of Vishnu even as he perceives the different visions of Krishna in his mind! Child bhaktha Prahlada had the rare fortune of the darshan of Lord Narasimha who presented Himself to kill Hirayakasipu and save the world! He is the Absolute Brahman that is glorified in all the Vedas and the Upanishads. His Avatar was terribly frightening to everyone including the Devas! The creator Brahma and Lord Siva and all the Devas including Goddess Lakshmi dare not approach Lord Narasimha! Leela Shuka says that he is following and worshipping such Absolute Brahman!
“What is the essence of this samsara- this mortal existence? What is the best thing in our life? What is the radiance in our ajnana or avidya or ignorance? It is the meditation on the lotus feet of Sri Krishna! It is also the namasmarana or repetition of the blessed name of Siva, the enemy of Andhakasura!” No life without these is worthy in this world.
According to Leela Sukha our mortal existence is useless without meditation on and worship of the delicate lotus feet of Krishna! Man is under the illusion of Maya and his life on Earth is directionless like a boat without a rudder! He is totally lost in the company of his wife, children, property and relatives! He has no time to think of God or examine what his goal in life is! Attachment to mundane things undoes him. He is not worried about his purpose in life. He considers the real as unreal and the unreal as real! Modern life has come to a stage where man denies the very existence of God and sometimes considers himself as God! That is a very dangerous trend in society! One of the devotees points out that everything happens according to one's Karma! Nothing can stop it. But he prays that his devotion should always be fixed on His Lotus Feet! “ Twat padambhoruha yugagata nischala bhakthi rasthu!”
There is only one God! “Eko devaha Kesavo va Sivova!” Either it is Kesava or Vishnu or Siva! The Upanishads and the Vedas proclaim “ Ekam Eva adwitiyam Brahma”- Siva, Vishnu, and various other forms of God are only the manifestations of the Supreme Brahman! Those who consider them as different or superior or inferior are ignorant fools! Therefore Leela Shuka brings in Siva while describing the glorious leelas of Krishna. Lord Siva is called “ Andhakari” because he killed the asura Andhakasura!
It has been my fortune to bring to the notice of my viewers the great and wonderful composition of Leela Shuka in his KRISHNA KARNAMRUTA! The slokas are permeated with intense devotion, sringara rasa, and literary and poetic brilliance! The moment I came across this work, I felt that I should render the slokas in English and give a brief summary and notes so that the readers can understand the essence of the slokas! I have just chosen these fifty slokas at random for their excellence in poetic composition as well as rasa and devotion. We are able to feel the total devotion and dedication of the poet to the worship and meditation of his chosen deity Madanagopala!! I hope and trust that the blogs on KRISHNA KARNAMRUTA-SLOKAS have kindled interest in the readers for further reading. I conclude my blogs on KRISHNA KARNAMRUTA-SLOKAS with this blog!
