BAHMAVALLI SIXTH ANUVAKA

VIGNANAMAYA SLOKA   ANANDAMAYAKOSA  FORM OF UPASANA
Mantra:  Vignanam  yagnam tanute karmani tanutepicha vignanam  devas sarve……..
Meaning:   It is only the person with vignana that performs yagna with sraddha and devotion. In other words, it is vignana  that performs the yagna. It is this vignana that carries out common and worldly activities. Hence it is vignana that is ‘atma’. It is proper to call it as Brahma.
As it is the first born and the eldest, all Devas  including Indra perform its upasana. They have a liking or preference for this vignanamaya Brahma. It is because of this upasana they are endowed with jnana and are fabulously rich and prosperous.
There is always the danger of mistaking the outer sheaths or kosas like Annamayakosa as the atma .But they are all ‘anatmas’(not atmas). One should, very well conduct upasana on vignana Brahma. He should consider vignana Brahma  as the Brahma to ward off all the sins committed in relation to love and attachment to the body even during his life time. He will, then, realize   or attain the form of that vignanamaya  Brahma and fulfill all his desires.
All sins are committed because of attachment to the body and its wants. All these sins disappear by meditating on Vignanamaya  Brahma as there is no cause at all. This is similar to the absence of the shadow of the umbrella when the umbrella itself is not there or removed.
For the Manomaya sareera the atma is Vignanamaya  atma  born out of Manomaya sareera. Separate from and embedded in Vignanamaya atma  is Anandamaya atma which completes it and makes it full.
The word ‘Anandamaya’ denotes ‘karya Brahma’-Jeeva (individual soul) not Paramatma (Absolute soul) as the outer layers Annamaya and Pranamaya have been described. Annamaya sabda denotes  the Jeeva as ‘siras’ (head) and other parts are imagined.
                                                             OM   THATH  SATH.
