Jatavedase sunavama soma marayatiyato nidahati vedaha sanah
parshadati durgani viswa naveva sindhum duritatyagnihi
Agni from whom we derive jnana is called ‘jataveda’. It
is for him that we get the ‘somalata’ (for yaga) and offer its essence . Let this all knowing Agni , reduce into ashes, all our enemies who
want to harm us outwardly and inwardly.
Let Agni ward off all our difficulties and sins in the same way as a boatman helps people cross the unfathomable ocean!
Mantra: tha magnivarnam
tapasa jwalanthim vairochinim karma phaleshu jushtam durgam devigum sarana maham
prapady esutarasi tarase namaha
This mantra speaks of Durga Devi as described in mantra
sastras like ‘navadurgakalpa’ and others.”I surrender myself to Durgadevi of
Agni’s bright red colour, and related to
paramatma, who destroys our enemies by the very radiance
of her body, and whom the upasakas propitiate for children, cattle and Swarga. O Durgadevi! You save the devotees who
surrender themselves to you and safely take them across the sea of samsara. I
offer my pranams to you
.
Agne thwam parayana vyoasman swasthibhirati durgani viswa
puscha pruthvi bahulana urvi bhava thokaya thanayaya samyoh
O Agni! You are fit to be praised by all. You would
safely bale us out of our toils and troubles by proper
planning, Let our residential town be extensive through your grace. Let our
fertile lands prosper. You be the provider of happiness to our sons and grandsons.
Mantra: visvanino durgaha jatavedas sindhumna nava duritati
parshi agneatri vanmanasa grunano smakam bodhyavita tanunam
O Jataveda! Agni! The destroyer of all our troubles!
Ward off all sins like a boatman who ferries people across the seas safely. O Agni!
Similar to the great ‘jivanmukta’, sage Athri, wish us always happiness and
good things in life. Be thou the protector of our bodies.
Adhyatmika ditapatraya rahitvenaathrihi=athrihina+thrihi=athrihi-one
who has no adhyatmika taapas or sorrows. Sage Athri would always
say’sarvecha sukhinas santhu sarvesanthun
iramayaaha’ Let all be happy and healthy!
Mantra: prutana jitagam sahamana mugra magniggam huvema paramath
sadhastathsa nah parshadati durgani visva kshmaddevo atiduritaat
yagnihi
We invite Agni, a terror to his enemies, who is
victorious and humiliates them. We welcome Agni to this place from his best
resort where he is surrounded by his own colleagues and friends. Let him accept
our invitation ,come here ,and destroy all our sufferingsand terrible sins like
‘brahmahatya’.
Mantra:
pratyoshika midyo adhwareshu sanacha hota navyascha sadshnisvanchagne tanuvampipriyas
vasvabhym cha sowbhagama yajasva
O Agni!,praised by all in yagas and other sacrifices, you
grant much happiness to your devotees. Though you bestow results according to
their karmas, you are very much present at ‘homas’. Though worthy of praise, you
are ever available at places of sacrifice. So, O Agni! Be satisfied with the
‘havis’ I offer you and bless me with
all prosperity!
Mantra: gobhirjushta mayujo nishiktam tavendra vishno ranusanchrema
nakasyaprushta mabhisamvasano vaishnavim loka iha madayantam
O Indra! Desirous of cattle and exceptional prosperity
tinged with nectarine flow, we aspire for a life totally free from sins and
sorrows. we follow you for that. You pervade all types of yagas and we follow
you like servants. Let all Devas in heaven grant us ,the devotees of Vishnu, all
our desires and make us happy.

Mantra for attaining
jnana and the essence of all Upanishads: yaschandasa mrushabho visvarupa schandhobhyas
chandagam syanivesasa chagam sikyah purovachopanishad indro jyeshta indriyayarushibhyo
namo devebhyas swadha pitrubhyo bhurbhuvassuvas chandavom
Omkara, innate in the entire universe is the greatest
in the Vedas and its essence. This Pranava
is born of the Vedas. Later it entered
into the chandas of the mantras of Gayathri. According to ”prapanchasara’ Pranava should be recited at the beginning of every
mantra. Indra who represents the Pranava
spoke of this doctrine earlier. This
Indra is one to be realized by jnanis , upasakas,
and those who perform karmas rigidly. He
is also the great root cause of all jagat. He instructed the-aspirant sages on
the Upanishads . I offer my salutations
to the Gods and the pitrus to remove any obstacles in the attainment of jnana. Let all the vedas in the three worlds be realized
by me!
